Mr Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, paid a working visit to Togo. He was received by the Prime Minister, Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, on Thursday 28 March 2024. The wo personalities held talks followed by a bilateral meeting involving government delegations from both parties.
On behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E.M. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, the Head of the Government thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his working visit, which shows and tells the attention Luxembourg pays to Togo and the quality relations of friendship and cooperation between
the two countries. These relations are set to become even stronger, with new prospects for partnership in both the economic and social fields.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, “it is important to assess ways to assist in the fields of digitalisation, the environment and training. In fact, making sure that young people are given extra opportunities is something we need to address together by investing in people, in their training, in their future. Making sure that young people live a better life, that’s in the interests of all of us too.”
The Prime Minister welcomed the launching of discussions between Lomé and Luxembourg.
“We welcome the opportunity of opening discussions with your country to examine ways of strengthening cooperation,” Mrs Victoire TomégahDogbé indicated.
“Our country has a strong identity and many assets. Togo is located at the heart of West Africa and has very strong regional routes. Togo offers world-class logistics solutions. Our partners operate in Togo not just for 8 million people but for a global market of 300 million people, given its strategic position with the interconnection of world markets. Togo confirms its position as a logistics hub that offers competitive services.”
By way of confirming their mutual commitment, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening cooperation relations between Luxembourg and Togo.
