The head of government, Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé spoke this Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Prime Minister’s office with the 2022-2024 Vice-President of the Zonta International organization, Ms. Fernanda Gallo-Freschi.
The Vice-President confided that her organization requested this audience with the Prime Minister to obtain suggestions from the Togolese government, with a view to improving its services in Togo, in the area of women’s and girls’ rights.
“It is very important for our organization Zonta International, in the various countries, to be able to have the support of the authorities, because that means that what Zonta International does in these countries is important and they can give us a lot of suggestions,” she said.
For Ms. Gallo-Freschi, Zonta International and its Foundation have worked for more than 100 years on the rights of women and girls and this year marks the centenary of Zonta’s international services. She stressed the priority for her organization to take care of the rights of women.
“We invested 36 million dollars in this project and almost half was carried out in Africa. And so, it is very important to know exactly if we are on the fairest route,” continued the Vice-President.
According to Ms. Gallo-Freschi, the Prime Minister hoped that Zonta International would continue to work more for the rights of young girls and also boys. She also mentioned the fight against gender-based violence; an aspect, she said, on which the Prime Minister wanted Zonta to also work.
