Prime Minister meets with Togo’s ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions abroad

The Head of the Government Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé met with Togo’s ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions abroad in her office on Saturday August 10, 2024. The meeting follows the working session, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 5 and 6.

The delegation handed the report of their working session to the Prime Minister, along with suggestions on ways to enhance the Togolese diplomacy.
The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and the Togolese Abroad, Ousmane Afo Salifou, briefed the visiting diplomats on the new socio-political developments in the country. Update was provided on the adoption by the National Assembly of the new constitution, the transition the parliamentary system and the Fifth Republic, the process of setting up institutions provided for in the new constitution, the status of implementation of the government roadmap, and other developments on their diplomatic missions.

The Prime Minister later advised the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions and provided guidance on how best they can improve their performance abroad.

”They expressed satisfaction at their training. Far from the country, they are not necessarily aware of the innovations and advances. So it was important to update them and keep them abreast of the said advances,” said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Mohamed Sad Ouro-Sama, Togo’s most senior ambassador to Kuwait and the Gulf region thanked the Head of the Government for the fruitful meeting. He praised the Prime Minister for according upmost attention to their suggestions on how to develop the Togolese diplomacy.

The Prime Minister congratulated the participants on the quality of the exchanges they had whilst in the country. She urged the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions abroad to be Togo’s loyal advocates in their respective jurisdictions.
