On Monday 06 November 2023, Prime Minister, Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, held discussions in her office with a US delegation led by Isabel Casillas Guzman, US Administrator for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen partnership between US and Togolese SMEs.
At the end of the audience, the head of the delegation, Isabel Casillas Guzman, said that discussions with the Prime Minister focused on issues of common interest, including the small and medium-sized business sector. She stressed that the head of government shared Togo’s vision on how to promote economic growth in all sectors of activity. The meeting enabled the two personalities to get to grips with the challenges and opportunities offered by SMEs.
Isabel Casillas Guzman is of the view that “a country that aims to achieve economic growth must be able to count on entrepreneurs, and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister and Togo’s entrepreneurs. These meetings made it possible for us to get a real feel of the challenges facing entrepreneurs here and to foresee partnerships between entrepreneurs and SMEs in Togo and those in the United States. This is in line with the Prime Minister’s wish to strengthen collaboration between our two countries. SMEs account for 99.7% of all US businesses. They are an important part of every sector of our economy and they offer many opportunities.”
The US administrator called for closer collaboration between Togolese and US companies, to make SMEs more dynamic and competitive, and to boost their growth, which is at the heart of any flourishing economy.
“Discussions with the Prime Minister also focused on how to support US SMEs that are already working with Togolese businesses and entrepreneurs to create shared prosperity,” she concluded.
