Off we go! the trade fair and exhibition ball is set rolling for 12 days at the Togo Trade Fair Center (CETEF-Togo 2000). On Thursday 23 November 2023, Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé formerly opens the 18th edition of the Lomé International Fair, under the theme “Connecting markets to strengthen trade growth.”
The 18th edition well aligned with the vision of the Head of State, His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, to make our country more attractive to investors, in accordance with pillar 3 of the Government’s 2020-2025 roadmap.
According to CETEF’s Director General, Alexandre de Souza, “by setting the theme we intend to assert our primary ambition of playing a role that goes beyond simply providing a space for exhibitions and trade fairs to become a genuine commercial hub, a centre for international trade, a strong link in the economic ecosystem capable of boosting profitable alliances between Togo’s economic operators and their counterparts from other countries.”
The Minister for Trade, Handicrafts and Local Consumption, Rose Kayi Mivédor, praised the President of the Republic for his vision to promote investment and trade fair activities.
She congratulated the organising committee for coming up with numerous innovations for this year’s event.
“Indeed, in addition to investments in the diversification of energy supply sources such as renewable energies, booking of exhibitions stands and buying of tickets online, guided tours on working days for staff from ministries, institutions, embassies and companies were the innovations for this year’s event. I wish to invite the general public, as usual, to flock to Togo 2000 to discover and appreciate the various services and products to be displayed by economic operators from Togo, Africa and the rest of the world,” said Minister Mivédor.
A fully Togo-made products supermarket was also inaugurated by the head of government on site.
The Lomé International Trade Fair started since 1985 and remains one of Africa’s leading business events. More than 1,000 exhibitors and over 300,000 visitors are expected to attend. The fair closes on 3 December.
The ceremony ended with the symbolic ribbon-cutting and a guided tour of the exhibition stands.
